my choice

I called this piece “my choice”. I was struggling with understanding the double standards unraveling before our eyes with how so many people are in support of my human right + choice to remove something out of my body, yet be subject to harsh criticism for contemplating inserting something foreign into my body prior to researching + educating myself about it.

As a woman, I prefer to keep my personal medical choices to myself while HIPAA law still exists in the US, whether it’s an abortion, medical procedure, or inoculation. I found 2020 + 2021 to be such an invasion of my privacy, all for the sake of satisfying someone else’s personal doubts + fears, outside of my circle of medical professionals.

Like the rest of humanity, NONE of us chose the genetic predisposition given to us at birth, so my personal medical history + personal medical choices are for a reason that works for me, not anyone else. Shouldn’t this be the same for EVERYONE, regardless of gender?
